Alabama star wide receiver Jameson Williams will give up his senior season and enter the NFL draft, I have announced on Thursday.

A fast All-American who switched to Alabama from Ohio State, Williams led the SEC by receiving yards (1,572) and touchdowns (15) this season.

ESPNs Mel Kiper Jr. lists Williams as the No. 1 receiver eligible for draft and the sixth-best prospect regardless of position.

The complicated Williams’ draft position is an injury he sustained against Georgia in the College Football Playoff National Championship match on Monday.

Sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Williams tore the ACL in his left knee.

Doctors believe that when surgery is completed within the next week, Williams will maintain his under-4.3 speed and they expect a full recovery, sources said.

Williams was not the only Alabama player to sign up for the draft Thursday.

Offensive tackle and potential top-five pick Evan Neal also announced he would leave school early.

Defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis, a top-10 prospect on his position according to Kiper, declared his draft on Wednesday.

Alabama is still awaiting announcements from several draft-qualified players, including wide receiver John Metchie III.

Metchie led Alabama in receptions (96) and is Kipper’s No. 8 rated receiver.
