Cesar Azpilicueta feels that Romelu Lukaku will be a success at Chelsea and revealed why Thomas Tuchel was equipped to handle the recent situation.

Lukaku, 28, is now back in favor after apologizing for comments he made on his move to Stamford Bridge. The Belgian national team player indicated that he was not happy with Chelsea and longed for a return to Inter Milan. Tuchel lost him and looked sat down for face-to-face conversations.

They seemed to be doing the trick and the attacker made it clear he is engaged in the Blues cause. And Azpilicueta has now supported his teammate to move on and repay the faith he has shown.

“We would rather not have this kind of situation, but once it happened, we had to deal with it,” he said. The mirror. “The club’s manager makes the decisions, he [Lukaku] apologized to the fans and to the manager and the club, the board and everyone.

“Now he’s looking to succeed with the team. I think he made it clear that for him it was his dream since he was a boy to play for Chelsea and now the most important thing is to work on the pitch as he has today to help the team. ”

Lukaku returned to west London in the summer, where European champions paid £ 97 million for his services.

He has scored five top goals after 13 appearances and Azpilicueta is convinced that he will pack many more during this period.

“The goals will come and hopefully everyone gets stronger and can move on from here because I think we all have a very exciting four or five months ahead of us,” he added.

Azpilicueta supports Tuchel ‘willingness to win’

Chelsea are 10 points behind Manchester City, who are at the top of the table. It’s hard to see Pep Guardiola’s team give up their lead, but there is still a lot for Chelsea to play for in 2021-2022.

The defense of their Champions League title is still very much alive. And they have a 2-0 lead in the first match over Tottenham in the EFL Cup semi-finals.

Tuchel has won plenty of trophies in his leadership career. And Azpilicueta thinks he knows the reason.

“I have had a number of leaders and some have been very different,” he continued. “All they have in common is the will to win. But Thomas is someone who is very calm, but he is also very demanding. He is not happy when things are not going well.

“He always wants more – more success. That’s what he’s proven with the success he’s had, and hopefully we can have more in the future.”
