According to the club, Atletico Madrid are interested in picking up Chelsea’s central defender Andreas Christensen in this summer’s transfer window Files. Christensen is without a contract with the defending European champions Chelsea at the end of the season, and the defending La Liga champions, Atletico, are among the clubs interested in securing the 25-year-old Danish international central defender on a free transfer.
Diego Simeone’s team has a bad season and could cope with reinforcements at the back. Atletico are currently in fourth place in the La Liga table with 42 points after 25 games, 15 points behind leaders and city rivals Real Madrid.
Christensen is one of the best central defensive players in the Premier League and has been on Chelsea’s books since 2012. The Dane has so far in his career played 88 matches in the Premier League for the Blues. Christensen has played 12 starts and two substitutions in the Premier League and has scored one goal and provided one assist in five Champions League for Thomas Tuchel’s teams so far this season.
