With Arsenal still far from being a force in the Premier League in 2020/21, Mesut Ozil’s continued absence makes little sense.
The Gunners have lacked creativity for most of the season, and only in recent games have some of the youngsters triumphed with the level of their performances.
There is certainly a reasonable argument as to why the winger should have a chance to resurrect his career at Arsenal, however if North Londoners are not intending to hold on to him, he is better off letting him move to new pastures.
the Daily mirror They report a slight thaw in Mikel Arteta’s attitude towards Ozil, although it does not extend to allowing him to move in January, nor has the Spaniard given any guarantee regarding playing time for the rest of the season.
“We will see what happens in the transfer window and we will evaluate that (Ozil’s situation) at the end,” he said.
“You have to respect the player’s contract. What you can do is try to be open with them and tell them your intentions, the role they have on the team, and why.
“In the end, they have the right to make the decision in their lives because they have a contract here.
“Some would like to move because they are not playing, and others would like to stay. In the end, that is something we cannot decide ”.
If the Gunners can continue in the same vain as the last couple of games, then Arteta has every justification to keep Ozil on the sidelines.
However, it is a dangerous game to play.
