Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that Harry Kane is struggling with his fitness right now.
Spurs lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday, where Kane played the full 90 minutes.
The English striker was about to score after crashing the crossbar from a free kick in the first half. Other than that it was relatively quiet.
Before the game, José Mourinho insisted that Kane was in top form and that he was eager to face Pep Guardiola’s team.
However, Wenger has noted that Kane is still struggling physically and is certainly not at the level of fitness required to meet the intensity demanded by Mourinho.
Wenger told BeinSports (h / t Football London): “Neither does Harry Kane. He looks physically, in terms of fitness, not quite ready to play with that intensity. To me, he still looks a bit injured in his ankle when he hurt himself once, he fell quickly and it wasn’t a big hit. “
Kane missed both Tottenham’s Premier League games after sustaining a blow to the ankle during a 3-1 loss to Liverpool.
While the England forward scored off the bench against Everton in the FA Cup, he will probably still need some time to regain full clarity.
Mourinho is under tremendous pressure as the Spurs suffered their fifth loss in six games.
The north London club remains in ninth position, four points behind Liverpool in the final place in the Champions League.
