Arsenal could try to hijack a deal for French midfielder Steven Nzonzi in January, according to a report.
Nzonzi He is currently on loan to Rennes from Roma, where he failed to reach his usual standards after moving to Italy in 2018.
Back in his homeland since January 2020, Nzonzi is back on his feet. It was a key factor in helping Rennes qualify for the Champions League last season.
His loan to them still runs until the end of the season, but a change of scenery could be at stake.
According to Mercato foot, Rome could cancel its Rennes loan this month in order to get rid of it permanently. Since the deal with their parent club runs out in 2022, they want to get paid while they can.
Rennes would like to offer you a permanent deal. But there is also interest in the winner of the Premier League World Cup.
Nzonzi previously made a name for himself in England with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City. Now he has bigger fans in the English top flight.
According to the report, Arsenal and Everton are interested in their services. The Premier League duo could get in the way of the Rennes negotiations.
Nzonzi is said to be hesitant to accept Rennes’ offer, as he knows other clubs might move in for him. You may be alerted to the possibility of returning to the Premier League.
Arsenal are looking for another midfielder this month. They wanted to sign Houssem Aouar from Lyon as well as Thomas Partey last summer, but was only able to bring the latter.
Therefore, they continue to seek reinforcement. It was thought that they would target a more creative gamer, but Nzonzi could add more steel to his engine room.

Another French midfielder who could be playing at Emirates Stadium soon is Matteo Guendouzi.
