Arsenal have joined the race for Tottenham goal Marcel Sabitzer, according to reports.
Sabitzer seems ready to step up after impressing RB Leipzig in recent years. The midfielder has been linked to a Premier League move in recent months.
Up to this point, Tottenham seems to be the main contender. Sabitzer scored against them in the Champions League last season, so they know very well what he can do.
The Austrian is now entering the last 18 months of his contract. Leipzig may have to cash in on it in one of the next transfer windows.
That could lead to further speculation about a transfer to Tottenham. However, according to ESPNJulien Laurens, Arsenal is also interested in the player.
The Gunners wanted to bring in another midfielder in the summer, even after signing Thomas Partey from Atlético de Madrid.
Houssem Aouar was an important target before committing to Lyon for the season, while his attention was focused on Dominik Szoboszlai, who has since announced that he will join Leipzig. Therefore, Arsenal now have to shift their focus elsewhere.
Sabitzer could be an option, although it would come with a price tag of £ 45 million which might be off putting.

Leipzig address transfer rumors
Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche recently confirmed that contract negotiations with Sabitzer are on hold for the time being.
He also responded directly to speculation that Sabitzer could join Tottenham.
“Like I said, it has had a great development,” Krosche said.
“It goes without saying that other clubs notice it too.”
