Arsenal’s desire to bring Matteo Guendouzi back into their plans could be put to the test by a January offer from his club on loan Hertha Berlin.
The French midfielder joined the Bundesliga team at the end of last season.
Spirit Guendouzi has made a great impression on the German side.
He has become a regular starter in recent months and that coincided with a rebound in the club’s fortunes.
They have lost just one of their last seven and Guendouzi’s thunderbolt against Borussia Moenchengladbach last Saturday helped force a 1-1 draw.
Hertha Berlin boss Bruno Labbadia is certainly impressed by the impact Guendouzi is having as they wait to continue their rise up the table.
He is quoted as saying: “We are happy to have been able to sign him.
“He is a very, very good footballer, who has a good sense of space and is technically very strong.
“Although he is young, he gives instructions. It doesn’t interest him at all if he speaks the language ”.
Arsenal could now take advantage of Guendouzi
Guendouzi’s contract with Arsenal expires in 2022. It means that next summer is the last chance for them to get a transfer fee back.
Therefore, Hertha may decide to move now to beat any future competition.
And from Arsenal’s point of view, a firm offer on the table in January may be preferable to playing a waiting game and risking nothing.
Getting the money now would also allow Arsenal Director Edu and Chief Mikel Arteta to fund future hiring plans.
That is if they want to sell it, of course.
Guendouzi fell from grace last summer when he faced Brighton players in a 2-1 loss at Amex Stadium.
The Gunners come into this weekend’s games in 15th place, just one spot above Brighton.
If your struggles continue, Arteta he may decide that Guendouzi still has a role to play in the Emirates.
