A section of Arsenal fans have praised Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s performance following the club’s 4-2 Premier League victory over Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners had been winless for three league games and had suffered back-to-back defeats at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa.
They made up for it with a strong display against Marcelo Bielsa’s team and Aubameyang was the standout player when he scored his first hat-trick in top-flight English football.
The Gabon international had made his first league start since Newcastle United’s victory on January 18, after missing two games due to his mother’s poor health.
He couldn’t make a big impact from the bench in recent losses at the West Midlands, but he redeemed himself with a hat-trick scored in just 47 minutes.
The north London team found themselves in a nervous situation when Leeds rallied from four to zero to make it 4-2 in the 69th minute.
However, the defense managed to refocus and players like David Luiz and Gabriel Magalhaes made some key interceptions in the area.
Meanwhile, Aubameyang could have scored another goal late in the game, but the carpentry denied him.
His performance pleased a number of Gunners fans and here are some reactions on Twitter.
Seeing Aubameyang scoring for us gives me a special kind of joy. #coyg

Magnificent 3 points from Arsenal. Much better performance. Ruthless in front of the goal. Glad to see Auba get back to his best level.

Aubameyang was definitely MOTM today, but I thought Saka was her usual brilliant and Dani was really good too. Special mention for the young Héctor

With his hat-trick, Aubameyang has become the club’s top scorer this season with 11 goals in all competitions.
He also entered an elite list of forwards who have scored 200 or more goals in Europe’s five major leagues in their respective careers.
The Gunners then face a difficult game against Benfica in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 to be played in Rome.
The win over Leeds should provide the momentum for the midweek game, where Mikel Arteta is likely to make some changes.
Rob Holding, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe could return to the starting lineup against the Portuguese team.
In other news, Arteta has provided an update on Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey’s injuries ahead of the European tie.
