It’s official: Arsenal have confirmed it through their official website that goalkeeper Matt Macey has signed with SPL Hibernian permanently.
Macey, who joined the Gunners in 2014, made two first-team appearances during his time at the club. One came in the League Cup, the other in the Europa League.
Suffice to say, he has never come close to breaking the starting eleven. He has seen several goalkeepers come and go, without having the slightest chance of being number one, although he has been part of Mikel Arteta’s first team.
Now 26, the time has come to move on in hopes of being the first choice elsewhere, just as he was during several loan spells at England’s lower echelons.
The Scottish team and Arsenal agreed to a move to Hibernian, with the latter taking to Twitter on Friday morning to thank Macey and wish him well in the future.
Thanks and good luck in @HibernianFC, Matt?

Macey signed in time to participate in the next Hibernian game, which will be at Celtic Park on Monday. Not bad to start with, right?
