The defending NFC North champions may be looking for additional depth to their wide receiver corps after losing a veteran for the season.
Last offseason, the Green Bay Packers chose to give the Carolina Panthers’ wideout Devin Funchess a chance. He had been injured as a member of the Colts in Week 1 of 2019 and spent the rest of the year on injured reserve.
Funchess then resigned out of 2020. This summer with the Packers, he caught six passes on 70 yards in a preseason loss to Houston. He did not play last week with the Jets.
Now he has landed on injured reserve and is missing another season. What should the packages do, if anything? Here are some veterans who are in the open market.
Think of the irony.
One of the most controversial plays in recent postseason history surrounded the Cowboys ‘wide receiver Dez Bryant’s reception / non-reception / reception late in the fourth quarter of Dallas’ possible loss at Green Bay in the NFC Division Round 2014. So imagine him now in a Packers uniform.
Bryant played in six regular season competitions with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020 and also appeared in each of their two playoff games. He failed to catch a pass in the off-season, but finished with six grips for 47 yards and two goals in the aforementioned competitions in the regular season. And he is easy to find via Twitter.
